Getting Started

Murder Mystery 2 Beginner Guide

Learn how rounds work, what each role must do, how to collect coins, and how to survive your first Murder Mystery 2 matches.

Every Murder Mystery 2 round assigns players a hidden role. Innocents must survive, the Sheriff must identify and stop the Murderer, and the Murderer must eliminate everyone before time runs out.

1

Learn the Round Flow

Wait in the lobby while players vote for a map. When the round starts, your role appears on screen and the timer begins.

  • Do not reveal your role in chat.
  • Watch how players move before trusting them.
  • Use hallways, doors, stairs, and open rooms to keep escape routes open.
2

Understand Every Role

Innocents survive and gather information, the Sheriff carries the gun, and the Murderer carries the knife. An Innocent who collects the dropped Sheriff gun becomes the Hero.

  • Innocent: survive and identify suspicious behavior.
  • Sheriff: protect players and shoot only when the Murderer is identified.
  • Murderer: eliminate every opponent without being shot.
  • Hero: collect the dropped gun and stop the Murderer.
3

Use the Basic Controls

Move, jump, adjust the camera, and equip role weapons through Roblox's standard controls. Mobile and console players get platform-specific action buttons and prompts.

  • Keep the camera angled toward nearby doors and corners.
  • Equip a weapon only when you are ready to use it.
  • Practice aiming and movement in open areas before attempting difficult shots.
4

Survive as an Innocent

Keep distance from groups, avoid dead-end rooms, and remember which players approach bodies or chase others.

  • Do not stand directly behind the Sheriff.
  • Change direction when someone follows you for too long.
  • Listen for eliminations and watch where players came from.
  • Move toward the dropped gun only when the area is safe.
5

Play Sheriff Carefully

Stay in a position with clear sightlines and wait for visible evidence before shooting. Missing a shot can leave you exposed.

  • Avoid firing into crowded groups.
  • Keep distance from suspected players.
  • Do not hold the gun in an obvious position for the entire round.
  • After identifying the Murderer, aim where they are moving, not where they were standing.
6

Play Murderer Strategically

Separate players, avoid attacking in front of witnesses, and prevent the Sheriff or Hero from controlling open areas.

  • Blend in during the opening part of the round.
  • Use corners and isolated rooms to hide eliminations.
  • Do not chase one player through the entire map.
  • Watch the dropped gun after eliminating the Sheriff.
7

Collect Coins and Build an Inventory

Pick up coins during active rounds and spend earned currency on available weapon boxes. Your Inventory stores knives, guns, pets, effects, radios, emotes, and other owned cosmetics.

  • Collect coins only when the route is safe.
  • Save currency for boxes containing designs you actually want.
  • Equip matching knives and guns to create cosmetic sets.
  • Event weapons can become unavailable after their event ends.
8

Trade Without Getting Scammed

Use the in-game trading window and inspect every item before accepting. Never trust promises involving future repayment, duplication, account access, or off-platform transactions.

  • Check both sides of the trade before confirming.
  • Decline trades that change at the last second.
  • Never lend an item to prove trust.
  • Never share passwords, login codes, cookies, or account recovery details.

Gameplay Strategy

Murder Mystery 2 Roles and Strategy

Use role-specific Murder Mystery 2 tactics for surviving, identifying threats, controlling the gun, and eliminating opponents.

Innocent

Survive until the timer ends or help the Sheriff and Hero identify the Murderer.

Abilities

  • Move freely around the map
  • Collect coins during the round
  • Pick up the dropped gun and become the Hero

Strategies

  • Watch who follows isolated players or approaches recent elimination areas.
  • Keep enough distance to react if another player draws a knife.
  • Use corners and doorways to observe without becoming trapped.
  • Remember where the Sheriff and dropped gun were last seen.
  • Lead the Murderer toward open areas where the Sheriff has a clear shot.

Common Mistakes

Standing in crowded doorwaysFollowing the Sheriff too closelyHiding in a dead-end roomRunning directly toward a dropped gun without checking the area

Sheriff

Identify and shoot the Murderer without eliminating an Innocent.

Abilities

  • Carry the round's gun
  • Fire at suspected Murderers
  • Drop the gun when eliminated

Strategies

  • Stay near open sightlines with more than one escape route.
  • Wait for clear evidence such as a visible knife or confirmed elimination.
  • Keep distance because the Murderer can attack at close range or throw the knife.
  • Change position after revealing the gun so the Murderer cannot rush you easily.
  • Aim where the Murderer is moving instead of firing repeatedly into crowds.

Common Mistakes

Showing the gun at the start of the roundFiring into groupsEntering tight rooms aloneStanding still after missing a shot

Hero

Recover the Sheriff's dropped gun and eliminate the Murderer.

Abilities

  • Use the gun after the Sheriff is eliminated
  • Win the round by shooting the Murderer

Strategies

  • Observe the dropped gun before approaching because the Murderer may guard it.
  • Use another route or wait for the Murderer to chase someone away from the gun.
  • Pick up the gun while moving instead of stopping directly over it.
  • Create distance before aiming because the Murderer may immediately throw a knife.
  • Use open rooms and long corridors to reduce close-range pressure.

Common Mistakes

Rushing a guarded gunPicking up the gun in a narrow chokepointAiming while standing completely stillShooting before confirming the target

Murderer

Eliminate every other player before the timer expires while avoiding the Sheriff's gun.

Abilities

  • Use the knife for close-range attacks
  • Throw the knife at distant targets
  • Track and pressure surviving players

Strategies

  • Delay revealing the knife while identifying the Sheriff and isolated targets.
  • Use corners to close distance without crossing long sightlines.
  • Throw the knife when the Sheriff is exposed or moving predictably.
  • Guard the dropped gun from a position that still lets you chase other players.
  • Check common hiding rooms, dead ends, and areas where coins have stopped disappearing.

Common Mistakes

Revealing the knife in a crowded area too earlyChasing one player for too longStanding directly on the dropped gunRepeatedly throwing from the same position
Maps

Murder Mystery 2 Maps Guide

Learn the important rooms, escape routes, open sightlines, and dangerous areas across popular Murder Mystery 2 maps.

Good positioning beats staying in one hiding spot. Use loops, alternate exits, and open shooting lanes, and avoid rooms where the Murderer can block the only doorway.

House 2

Key Areas

Living roomKitchenBedroomsBasementUpper hallway

The connected central rooms support short loops, but bedrooms and the basement become traps when their exits are watched.

Danger Zones

Bedroom doorwaysBasement stairsNarrow upper hallway

Innocent: Rotate between the main rooms and avoid staying inside a bedroom after the Murderer knows your position.

Sheriff: Use the living room and longer hallway angles rather than fighting on the stairs.

Murderer: Cut off players moving between floors and pressure anyone retreating into a dead end.

Mansion 2

Key Areas

Main hallDining areaKitchenBedroomsCourtyard

The large rooms give space to dodge, while connecting hallways let the Murderer approach from several directions.

Danger Zones

Small bedroomsTight connecting hallwaysDoorways near the main hall

Innocent: Use the main hall and courtyard to keep visual space around nearby players.

Sheriff: Hold a long angle across a large room and reposition when players begin crowding the doorway.

Murderer: Use side rooms to approach unseen and force the Sheriff into a narrow passage.

Hotel 2

Key Areas

LobbyGuest-room corridorsKitchenTheaterUpper floor

Multiple floors and long corridors create strong escape routes, but guest rooms can trap players who enter without checking the exit.

Danger Zones

Guest roomsStair landingsTheater entrance

Innocent: Keep moving between floors and use the lobby as a visual checkpoint before entering another corridor.

Sheriff: Take shots along the long hallways while keeping access to the stairs.

Murderer: Pressure players toward closed rooms and use floor changes to break the Sheriff's line of sight.

Office 3

Key Areas

Cubicle areaConference roomsReceptionSide officesMain corridors

Cubicles break sightlines and create sudden close-range encounters. The wider corridors are safer for checking nearby players.

Danger Zones

Cubicle cornersSmall officesConference-room entrances

Innocent: Avoid blind turns through the cubicles when another player is following closely.

Sheriff: Stay near the main corridor where desks do not block every shot.

Murderer: Use cubicle walls to close distance and retreat before the Sheriff gains a clean angle.

Factory

Key Areas

Warehouse floorOffice sectionLoading areaOutdoor yardIndustrial corridors

Factory combines open spaces with narrow industrial routes. Players can loop through the warehouse and yard instead of entering isolated rooms.

Danger Zones

Office cornersNarrow industrial passagesLoading-area chokepoints

Innocent: Use the warehouse and outdoor area to maintain distance from suspicious players.

Sheriff: Control open warehouse sightlines and avoid following the Murderer into tight office rooms.

Murderer: Move through cover between open areas and intercept players at connecting doorways.

Bank 2

Key Areas

Main lobbyVaultUpper officesSecurity areaConnecting hallways

The lobby provides visibility, while the vault and smaller offices can be controlled by a player guarding their entrances.

Danger Zones

Innocent: Stay near routes that return to the lobby and do not remain inside the vault after being followed.

Sheriff: Use the lobby's open space and avoid taking close-range fights near the vault.

Murderer: Push players away from the lobby and guard the main route to a dropped gun.

Hospital 3

Key Areas

ReceptionPatient roomsOperating areaMain hallwaysWaiting areas

Long medical corridors offer clear movement information, but patient rooms and treatment areas have limited escape space.

Danger Zones

Patient roomsOperating-room doorwayHallway intersections

Innocent: Watch intersections before crossing and avoid hiding in patient rooms with the door visible.

Sheriff: Use the long corridors for controlled shots while keeping an alternate turn available.

Murderer: Approach through side rooms and attack when players commit to a long hallway.

Research Facility

Key Areas

The facility has several intersecting routes. Glass and open laboratory areas can reveal movement before players enter the same room.

Danger Zones

Testing roomsNarrow laboratory entrancesCentral junction during crowded rounds

Innocent: Use visible corridors to track approaching players and switch laboratory wings before being cornered.

Sheriff: Hold an angle through the central routes without standing directly in the junction.

Murderer: Use route intersections to predict movement and force survivors away from open laboratory lanes.

Military Base

Key Areas

Outdoor yardHangarControl roomsInterior corridorsStorage areas

The outdoor area offers space to dodge, while the interior rooms favor close-range ambushes and route blocking.

Danger Zones

Control-room entrancesStorage cornersNarrow transitions between indoor and outdoor areas

Innocent: Use the yard to create distance and enter the interior only when another exit is available.

Sheriff: Fight from the open yard or hangar instead of pursuing through storage rooms.
